The Lord our God is one Lord
Praise God for all his goodness, for his mercies, and for his love. I am grateful for he has given me another day to live. I truly believe this is the day that the Lord God has made for his own glory.
That is why I come to his court each day with thanksgiving and praise in my heart. I will thank him and declare his word joining David the writer of psalms who said, "This is the Lord doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day which the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalms 118:23-24.
This is a day of salivation, this is day of victory, a day of blessing when we come to him with open heart and open mind. Therefore, I will praise and magnify his might name with all what I have.
The word of God encourages us to read his word to learn about him, his identity, his commandments, his statutes, his laws, his principles, his provision and promises. He says," Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them." Isaiah 34:16. This book is written through inspiration of the spirit of God and that is why we need to read it to know about God, his laws, commandments, and principles, to know him and come close to him and build relationship. It was written, " All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." 2 timothy 3:16-17.
While I was thinking, praying, and contemplating came the word of God that reminded me about the commandment of God. This is the first commandment of all his commandment. This is what the first commandment God has given to the children of Israelite after he took them out of Egypt. This is what he told them, “Hear O, Israel, the Lord our God is one lord. You shall love the Lord your God in all they heart and in all they” Deuteronomy 6:4. This is the commandment of the Lord God, in fact this is the first commandment of all. When you read through the entire chapter you would learn how important that commandment is. God is reminding them he is the one who brought them out of Egypt. Therefore, he want them to remember this commandment above all the commencement. The commandment seems simple, yet it is amazingly powerful. One will only know how strong it is when you read the verses down. It was written, “Now these are the commandment, the statutes, and the judgment, which the Lord God commanded to teach you, that you may do them in the land where you go to posses it. You mightiest fear the Lord your God, and keep his statues and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and they son’s son, all the days of thy life; and thy days may be prolonged. Hear therefore. O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that you may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey. Here, O Israel: The lord our God is one lord: and thou shall love the LORD your God with all thine heart, and with all they soul, and with all they might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thy heart: and thou shall teach them diligently unto thy children, and shall talk of them when thou sites in thy house, and when thou walks by the way, and when thy lies down, and when thou rises up. And thou shall bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be frontless between thine eyes And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates" Deuteronomy 6:1-9.
God the creator of the heaven and the earth is ONE, and that is what the entire Old Testament Declare. That is the theme of the Old Testament books, and all the prophets God was reminding the children of Israelite to remember the God who took them out of Egypt is ONE God. Let's look at some of the writer of the Old Testament and what they said. In Deuteronomy, its written" As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him." Deuteronomy 32:11-12. In anothre place its written, " Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars. Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea." Job 9:7-8. Another place it was written, " To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth forever. To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth forever. To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth forever. To him that made great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever:" Psalms 136: 4-7. The same writer in another place said, " O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever. O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth forever.
O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth forever. To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth forever" Psalms 136:1-4
We would find so many scriptures that would decare that the Lord our God us ONE. The book of Issiah expelined this in deepth. He said, " Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the Lord that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;" Isaiah 44:24 . In another Place in its wriiten, " Yet I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me." Hosea 13:4
In the New Testement the writers mentained the same comademnt and the same principles. In one place Jesus was asked about which one is the first comendement. It was written, " And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:" Mark 12: 28-29. Another place, " Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen." 1 timothy 1:17. The same writer indicated this saying, "That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; " 1 Timothy 6: 14-15.
There are so many scriptures declaring the Lord our God is ONE Lord. There is no other God before him and after him, no one like him as Its written, " One shall say, I am the Lord's; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the Lord, and surname himself by the name of Israel. Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them. Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any." Isaiah 44: 5-8. Let all the glory and the honor be to God.
