look up to the Cross!
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills,” Psalms 121:1. That is how one of the bible writer began his writing saying in this specific book and specific chapter. He said , I will lift up my eyes to the hills.
Any one who read this statement would ask some questions. One may ask saying, why is this person lifting his eyes to the hill? Another one would ask saying, what does he mean when he said he will lift his eyes to the hills? What does the hill actually represent?
We would ask these question and think and speculate. However, we will find the answer for these questions if we read further. This is what he said ,“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Psalms 121: 1-2
When we read further, we would find the writer continue making more statements. He made a declare recalling what the Lord God said to him for God said, “He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” Psalms 121: 3-8
That is what God said, and praise God for his word and all that is in his word. The word of God is true, and remain true forever for the same writer declare this saying, " For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven." Psalms 119:89
The only responsibility we have is to believe in God and his word for his word is true. We need to learn to trust in his word in all our heart. All we have to do is to have faith in the word of God.
The question is why do we sometimes find ourselves in trouble though God has given us all these powerful and great promises? Why do we find ourselves facing challenges and find ourselves in the wrong side of the story, when we know we are in the right side of the story?
It is true there are times we find ourselves doing the things we don’t want to do? Why? Why do we find ourselves doing the things we don't really want to do? Why do we wanted to do good, yet find ourselves doing evil?
The truth is we are not alone on this. We are not alone on this for there are many out there feeling the same way we do. We are not alone, even one of the greater preacher and writer of the New Testament , Paul addressed this challenge situation. He addressed this situation saying “Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? Romans 7: 13-24. He concluded his statement by asking question who shall separate me from this flesh? This sinful flesh?
We need to look upon the hill, to the cross to where our help comes from to get over this problem and challenges comes from our flesh. We need to look up to the cross, to a place where Jesus settled everything once and for all. We need to look up on the cross and pray to God to give us grace that will help us overcome sin, and the evil that is in our flesh, in our old nature, in the nature of Adam. We need to look up to the cross of Jesus for Jesus has done a great thing on the cross. Jesus have done great things to take away the sins, the death that was pronounced upon humanity. Isaiah Described what Jesus would do on the cross, and the invitation he offered to all to come to this mountain, which is the cross, saying, “And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it. And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” Isaiah 25: 6-9.
Lets look up to this mountain for it is where our help comes from .
