Working in Peaceful Village

I have been working with Mabitoba School improvement Program , "Peaceful Village "for 2017/18 school year. Working with Peaceful Village staffs and students with divers background was a privilage and great learning experience for me . I learned a lot as much as I was trying to give what I have.

The Peaceful Village program was an after school program intially designed with the purpose of supporting inner city students , and new comer students who need some support in their studies and settlement to the new Canadian life. The Peaceful Village program focuses on three majour areas.... The first one is helping students with their homework. The second one is passion programs, the program designed to support students who are interest in any extra curricular activities , like music , dance , poetry, and sport. The third one was to provide students with opportunities that help them improve their leadership skills. We provid them opportunities like students ambassadores, group leaders, and other responsiblities within the programs .

Though the Peaceful Village has many sights in Winnipeg. I was working in the Fort Richmond / Accadia sight. We have been working with more than 100 High School and Junior high students from Fort Richmond and Accadia Junior High schools.

As I indicated earlier it was a great learning experience for me for I learned many valuable lessons throughout this year.

Beginning from November I was running a program called "Language and Communication Group" . I had a chance to interact with some students and I learned some of them wanted to have a learning opportunities that help them improve their speaking and communication skills. Some of these students are new comers who came to do their highschool in here. Some of these students came from Korea , some from Nigeria , veitnam , and china.

Once we established the group under the name Langauguage and Communication Group we are able to discuss thoroughly about our objectives. These are the four objectives we came up with.

1. We want to improve our English: Speaking, listening, writing and reading skills 2. We want to improve our communication skills 3. We want to learn about each others culture . We set a goal of learning at least two words from each languages. 4. We want to share our experiences with other groups with similar interest.

We have been having classes to achieve these goals. At the end it was an mazing learning experience for us all. Attached is some pictures with students at different times .
